Philadelphia Comedy Academy

Philadelphia Comedy Academy (4/15): Anyone interested in a stand-up comedy class can check out the Philadelphia Comedy Academy. It's being run out of Helium Comedy club with instructor Brad Trackman, who has some street cred, being a touring headliner and whatnot. The school has been added to the comedy resources page.

Comedians (1/31): We're happy to report that the number of comedians listed on pastandup.com has already doubled. To two. Thanks to David James for sending along a picture and brief bio. If you'd like to have your mug on this site, just e-mail chris@pastandup.com and watch the magic happen. Same goes for show info, comedy announcements, etc. ... we're here to serve.

Welcome (1/15): Welcome to PA Standup! My name is Chris White, and for the last five years I've been operating DC Standup. The thinking behind that site was to provide a clean-looking, up-to-date home for information on the DC/Baltimore comedy scene -- a place where comedians, fans, bookers or whoever could stop in to find out what's going on, where the shows are, and so forth. Now I'd like to do the same for my hometown of Philadelphia. As you can see, right now the site is a little bit bare-bones -- I have open mic listings, a venues listing and that's about it. But I'm happy to post any kind of comedy information you might want to send along. Don't hesitate to send an e-mail to chris@pastandup.com with show updates, open mic changes, links to new comedy videos ... the goal here is to spread the word on Philly comedy and Philly comedians. Here's hoping it works.

Open Mics (1/15): Special thanks to Eric Houg, who sent along his open mic listings to get me started. You can see it over at the open mics page. If you have any updates (I'm thinking some of these shows aren't running, and that there are a few I'm missing) please zap me an e-mail and I'll fix it.

Comedian Listings (1/15): If you're a comedian and you'd like to be listed on the site, e-mail your bio and a photo (no huge files, please) to chris@pastandup.com. Include any links you'd want (to your MySpace page, any blogs, etc.). Full disclosure -- once the site is off the ground, there will be a small subscription fee -- $15 for a one-year listing (covers operating costs, meth production, etc.) But for the first few months it's free of charge.
